I’ve always been a more optimistic and positive person, that is just who I am. Not gonna lie, I kinda love it. I believe that being positive is not about having a perfect life, but rather about looking at the good side of things…specially when things don’t go right or when we are faced with tough situations. Being optimistic is definitely not an easy task and its not something that comes naturally to everyone. Most people have to put some work into it. So today, I’m going to share with you 10 simple ways you can live a more positive life starting today!
(1) Start Your Day Off Right
I’m a huge believer that if we start our day off right, in a happy and comfy way it will set the mood for the rest of our day! Most mornings we’re running around getting our day started, getting ourselves ready or the kiddos out the door in time for whatever activities we got going on. So I encourage you to wake up 5 or 10 minutes earlier and take sometime for yourself. To fully enjoy that cup of coffee, or drink your tea in peace. Now, I know that for most of us it is simply not possible to do this every single day, because #Sleep…but try to do this a few times a week and you will totally feel the difference. You will have so much more joy the rest of your day! I promise.
(2) Read Something Positive!
Along with starting your day off right, I love (and I mean LOVE) reading something positive each morning. Even if its something small that will take you less than 3 minutes, go ahead and read something that will give you some encouragement or put a smile on your face. Something I love doing is hopping on Pinterest and reading a few quotes to start my day, and then I go ahead and share my favorite one of that day on my Insta-Stories…so if you’re not following on my Instagram (@blushingmama) ya’ need to!
I think a lot of times we make the mistake to go on Facebook or watch the news, which is fine, but a lot of what we see are sad stories and things that aren’t so happy. So starting the day off with something positive will definitely give you some, shall I say #GoodVibes for the rest of your day 😉
(3) Make Your Home A Feel-Good Place
Don’t worry, I’m not about to tell you to have your home spotless at all times (but if you do, I’m jelly and can you come over and keep mine tidy? :D) No, but honestly, having my home as tidy as I can possibly can get it puts me in a good mood. Crack open a window, let some fresh air in, let the light shine through and light up a candle.
It is really in the little things that can put you in a good mood. I’d say if you can’t keep your whole house tidy (let’s be real, who can? Only my mom) then just concentrate on the one or two rooms that get you the most. From there I love keeping fresh flowers in as many spaces in my home as possible. It seriously doesn’t have to be expensive. I like to buy one bouquet of flowers (those $5 dollar ones sometimes) and just use some of those in my kitchen table, and some in my living room. Not only are you saving money but it also keeps your home looking cohesive. #Winning
(4) Surround Yourself with Positive-Minded People
I feel like this is such an important one, I even talked about it on my 7 Tips to Improve Self Love (Which you can read here) Has it ever happened to you that you start hanging out with someone so much that you catch yourself using some of their lingo? You never even realized you were paying that much attention to them until you start using the same words or expressions.
I think the same happens when it comes to attitude. If we’re constantly surrounding ourselves with people that are negative, or always pessimistic pretty soon we’ll start seeing life the same way. There is no way around it, it will happen. So I’m not saying cut ties with those existing friendships, I’m simply encouraging you to strive and be closer to those that have a more positive way of thinking and that will impact your life in a better way. <3
(5) Set Goals
I would describe myself as an ambitious person, I love working hard and setting goals. It keeps me busy, and it makes me feel good! If we have nothing to work towards we can get complacent and that is not a good place to be. When you’re there, you tend to get bored, and when you’re bored you can start getting negative thoughts. Like, “I’m bored”, “today sucks”, the “ughs” and “blahs” roll in and it can be a never ending cycle.
SO- set yourself some goals and work towards them. It doesn’t have to be anything big, but just something to work towards that will improve yourself. Like finish a book this year/month/week. Learn a new word every day. What ever goal it may be, make sure it makes you happy 🙂 There is no wrong way to go about this one.
(6) Do Something Good
I think this one is self explanatory. I don’t know about you, but when I do something good for others it makes me feel good…AND its also making the other person feel good. Two goods! No way to beat that.
(7) Smile
Yes, smile. Fake it if you have to. But when you smile it just automatically puts you in a better mood. Maybe it will make you feel a little silly…but that will also only make you laugh a little at yourself. SO BAM! Instantly good mood.
Bonus points if you smile at strangers, the #PositveBibes 😉 will spread! You never know when someone is having a bad day, and that smile if yours will make it better. As cheesy as it sounds. It. Is. So. Darn. True! Try it. I dare you!
(8) Express How You Feel
Sometimes you’re feeling good, sometimes you’re feeling not so good. But in order to be positive and happy you should express how you feel. Whether its having a conversation with someone, writing a letter you’ll never send, or simply journaling. Whatever way you like expressing your feelings, do it. It will make you feel so much better.
I know expressing how we feel can be hard sometimes, and yea it might be a little uncomfortable at the moment but I promise you, it will make you feel so much better after. Bottling up feelings, whatever they may be, isn’t good. So talk it out, hug it out, sing it out loud, just express the heck out of your feelings. (In a constructive way of course 😉 )
(9) Be Grateful
We live in a world where we’re always on the go and its easy to forget the important things in life. So take a moment to reflect on all the good things you have going on in your life. Even the little things. Spend time with your loved ones or at least give them a call, or send them a quick text.
(10) Chose to be Positive
Finally, choose to be as cool and positive as this pineapple. Seriously. Everyday we have a choice, to take things and life’s hardships with a smile on our face or with a frown. I encourage you to take things with a smile. Concentrate on one thing at a time. I know sometimes it can feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But trust me, there is. Just take things one at a time. Choose to smile and look at the good things that can come out of any and all situations. 🙂
I honestly believe we all have the power of living a more positive life, and having happier days. If we just make small changes on our everyday life, its so possible. You’re only a smile away from a more positive life.
Love you all,
Until next time…
